John was my first son-in-law who married my daughter Tamara right after they finished at UGA. Sadly, the marriage did not last, but I loved John, missed John, and still have thought about him often. He was loved by my deceased wife Dorothy and my other two children and actually became a mentor to my son Nathan for a couple years before the marriage ended. I am so sorry for this loss to John’s wife and children and his extended family. This is a very sad day. John was bright, talented, lovable and unique. I am so sad and sorry about his death.

Julia, sincerest condolences to you and your family. Sending love and best wishes your way. That big, lovable, insanely brilliant goof came into my life in 1986 when he moved into Myers dorm my sophomore year. And he never really left it despite and through every imaginable adventure, misadventure, ups, downs, sideways, offs and ons. It was great to reconnect with him on FB and I, like everyone else who shared his orbit, am simply gutted. Again, love and my deepest sympathy to you and your family.

My deepest condolences for you and your children. I worked with John at JT Moore Middle School in TN. He was such a wonderful teacher and colleague. With his incredible sense of humor he made my work days much lighter and brighter. I was just thinking of him today as I was grading some science projects. He would say, “It just smells like a B”. He was by his example, reminding me not to take work and life too seriously. I remember him always talking about his trailer that he was working on to take the kids around the country. What an amazing trip that must have been! I’m truly heartbroken for you and your family. My prayers are with you all.
Sincerely,
Ann Bermudez

I will miss his laugh, he had the best laugh. Behind his blunt sense of sarcasm was a brilliant mind who amazed me with how much he knew of a wide range of topics and his thorough research on everything, especially what he shared with me about anything related to bikes. It is a huge loss to not have him present physically but I pray your memories of him will bring you joy in your lowest days and they will pull you through to the other side. With all my love and condolences, Andrea
